Completed game

After implementing the gameplay I worked some on the game’s aethetic, I made the decision to make the game underwater themed based on the most obvious example of something that grows and shrinks a lot that I could think of was a puffer fish, so I made the avatar a puffer fish and themed the game around it.

I implemented a high score system into the game, but as I had removed keyboard input and it didn’t seem like a good use of my time to put in a click-based name input I decided that I would have the game assign you a name when you got a high score, that way the players wouldn’t have to remember their exact score, just the name that got assigned to them.

Feedback

Upon having the game play tested by my friends, and during the feedback session for the coursework I found out that although I was pretty good at it, my game is apparently really difficult. In spite of this people often saw replayability in the game and found that they got better the more they played, so this could well be a good thing. It was advised during the feedback that I introduce the player to the mechanics of the game in a softer way, rather than dropping them straight in. He also didn’t like the way the main menu looked, which is unsurprising and when I develop this game further I will prioritise the main menu a bit more.
