Making it like other good endless runners

One thing that was common across most of the endless runners that I found noteable was that they were primarily mobile games.
As such I have decided that although I don’t think it’s possible to build a game for a mobile using ASGE, I will make the game recieve inputs based on the way it would for a mobile game. That way if the engine does allow me to build games for mobile it will be ready to go. The way I plan to go about doing this is to make the game take mouse left click input and nothing else, as the only input a mobile device usually takes is a touch at a particular location.

Making it unlike other good endless runners

If I want the game to be remotely interesting I need to come up with something about the endless runner that distinguises it from other games. I’ve had a few ideas for how to go about this:

  • The player controls more than one avatar at a time, and has to keep them all alive.
  • Obstacles that go invisible after being on screen for a few seconds, player has to guess where they are based on their speed.
  • One player playing an endless runner and another player trying to obstruct them with obstacles
