First play test.
Play Test 1
Our first play test didn’t go very well as we didn’t want to commit to creating cards if we weren’t going to use them so we used a deck of playing cards and checked them against a chart when we drew them, it was not a good idea to do it this way as it slowed the game down and made it confusing.
It was unclear whether the game elements were bad because they were not enjoyable or just because of the effect the playing cards had on the pacing of the game. As a result of this we could only make a few strong decisions on what needed changing in the game.
We felt that the “Split or Steal” component was unfair in a 2 player game and didn’t represent real life politics. We also found that there weren’t enough cards in the game to bring someone else’s score down far enough to prevent them winning. In removing the negotiation element we replaced the number strengths of the card with a secondary effect a player could use to reduce another player’s score, so every card has the ability to do this.
